Accusations on the Altar

"Noah... offered burnt offerings on the altar.  And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in His heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth" (Genesis 8:20,21).  "Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes" (Psalm 119:23).  "Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter" (Proverbs 6:5).  "There be none of these things whereof these accuse me" (Acts 25:11).

Those offerings Noah sacrificed
To God became a fragrance sweet,
For they were shadows of the Christ
And of the work He would complete.

The Lord could see the accusations
Which aptly would describe our heart,
Regarding the imaginations
Of evil in us from the start.

The guilt is gone that plagued our mind!
We have escaped the hunter's hand!
Our soul's accuser cannot find
A charge against us that will stand!

O Lord, You purged our sins as dross;
Your truth and mercy have prevailed!
Upon the altar of Your cross
Our accusations have been nailed!
