Not Now Negligent

"My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him, and that ye should minister unto Him" (2 Chronicles 29:11).  "They forgot God their Savior" (Psalm 106:21).  "The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways" (Proverbs 14:14).  "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost" (Matthew 18:11).

Be not now negligent today
Where God has chosen us to stand.
Let everything we do and say
Advance the cause of His command.

Be not forgetful of the Savior
Like those who in the desert fell.
May God be pleased with our behavior
And strengthen us to serve Him well.

Be not backslidden now in heart
And filled with selfish, sinful ways.
May God instead to us impart
A heart revived to give Him praise.

Be not unmindful of the cost
Which Christ our Savior paid in full
That He might thereby save the lost
By tasting death for every soul.

O Lord, You were not negligent
To pay the price for our salvation.
It was to this end You were sent
To rescue us from condemnation.

We thank You that You died for all,
O Lord, in every time and place.
We would not now neglect the call
To preach the Gospel of Your grace.
