He Humbled Himself

"The LORD is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens.  Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high, who humbleth Himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!  He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; that He may set him with princes, even with the princes of His people" (Psalm 113:5-8).

The Lord is high above all nations;
His glory is above the skies.
Beyond our feeble contemplations,
Our Lord is holy, strong, and wise.

We lift our eyes again to see
Our Lord display eternal love,
For God so loved the world that He
Left heaven's splendor from above.

There's no one like the Lord our God
Who thus was humbled in our place
To rescue sinners, weak and flawed,
Whom He would ransom by His grace.

To raise our souls up from the dust
And lift us from the dung of sin,
He did then what He knew he must
To save the souls that He would win.

He humbled then Himself for us
To pay the cost of our salvation.
Is not our Savior marvelous
Who plucks our souls from condemnation?

O Lord our God, our wondrous Savior,
How great the distance is You span!
To lift us up with saving favor,
You humbled then Yourself as Man.

O Lord, for sinners You were humbled
That we might thus be justified.
If not for You, we would have stumbled
In hopeless darkness when we died.

Lord, help us now to reach the lost
By showing them Your love supreme
That prompted You to pay the cost
For those You humbly would redeem.
