Labor and Light

"Be ye strong... and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded" (2 Chronicles 15:7).  "The floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.  The LORD on high is mightier" (Psalm 93:3,4).  "Wisdom crieth... she uttereth her voice in the streets" (Proverbs 1:20).  "Ye are the light of the world... Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16).

Be strong to labor for the Lord!
Let not your hands today be weak,
For Christ shall give a sure reward
When, for His sake, we work and speak.

The floods of sinners lift their voice;
Shall not we lift our voice as well?
Let's urge the lost to make a choice
To turn to Christ and flee from hell!

The floods have lifted up their waves
To drown the voice of evidence,
Yet Christ is greater, and He saves
Each humble sinner who repents.

We lift our voice up in the streets
And labor where the Lord will send
To show the work that Christ completes
In those He saves and will defend.

We lift our eyes to fields white
And labor till the close of day.
Our work must cease when it is night,
So now we labor as we may.

O Lord, we are the lights that shine
With light that we reflect from You.
May those in darkness who recline
Arise and come to trust You too.

We labor, Lord, with light You give
To show the reason that You came.
We count each moment that we live
An opportunity to claim.
