Messianic Meditation

"And he [King Uzziah] sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper" (2 Chronicles 26:5).  "My meditation of Him shall be sweet" (Psalm 104:34).  "Peter answered... Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.  And Jesus answered... flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but My Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 16:16,17).

There was a king who sought the Lord
And heard His Word from Zechariah.
How great then was the Lord's reward
That God extended to Uzziah.

It was a time of wondrous favor
When Zechariah prophesied
With visions of the coming Savior,
The Christ for sinners crucified.

This Messianic Meditation,
Which God extends to us as well,
Illuminates His great salvation
With grace that saves our souls from hell.

Our meditation shall be sweet
On Him, our Savior Jesus Christ,
To show in Him we are complete,
Since He for us was sacrificed.

It is the Father who reveals
The deeper truths about His Son
And by this revelation heals
The broken heart that is undone.

O Lord, we meditate today,
As King Uzziah also did,
Upon Your Gospel's clear display
Where our Messiah is not hid.

We have this Messianic treasure
O Lord, which we may yet pursue!
This meditation gives such pleasure
And calls our hearts to worship You.
