Searching Solomon

"Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve Him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek Him, He will be found of thee" (1 Chronicles 28:9).  "The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good... Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?" (Proverbs 15:3,11).  "Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ" (Revelation 12:10).

God searched the heart of Solomon;
He searches every heart as well.
Not one is righteous, no not one;
The heart is wicked, fit for hell.

Yet God extends His invitation
To every heart that is inclined
To trust in Him, receive salvation,
And serve Him with a willing mind.

The eyes of God search from above
Throughout the earth in every place
To draw each heart with cords of love
The find the refuge of His grace.

Salvation comes by Jesus Christ;
He searches every heart's desire!
Because our Lord was sacrificed,
He's Just, and yet our Justifier!

In view now of the brevity
Of life that rushes by so fast,
The Savior bids each soul to flee
From wrath before the their time has passed.

O Lord, the Searcher of the heart
And Savior also of the soul,
Come, search and cleanse our inward part,
Enlarging in us Your control.

As Solomon was told that day
That You examined every thought,
Lord, teach us also what to say
That souls to You may thus be brought.
