Rightly Rather

"I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.  For the LORD God is a Sun and Shield... O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in Thee" (Psalm 84:10-12).  "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold... A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished" (Proverbs 22:1,3).  "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues" (Revelation 18:4).

Behold the blessings that we claim
When we have trusted in the Lord:
We find our refuge in His name,
And all our wealth is in Him stored.

So how much rather do we love
The name of Jesus Christ our Savior
Who blesses like the sun above
And shields us with loving favor!

Yes, rightly we desire more
Than all the wealth this world gives.
It's better far to keep the door
Where Christ has entered and He lives!

How rightly rather do we choose
To find in Christ our Hiding Place
Than all the world and to lose
Our souls in judgment and disgrace!

We've heard the voice from heaven call:
"Come out" of sin and come to Christ!
The Comforter reproves us all,
Since Christ for all was sacrificed.

The name of Christ is like a tower
That saves us from plagues of sin.
How rightly then we trust His power
And at His bidding we run in!

Lord, thank You for the wondrous plan
To thus escape our condemnation:
You died for all that every man
May rightly rather choose salvation!
