Remembrance of the Remedy

“God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.  Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Psalm 53:1,2).  “Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?” (Proverbs 15:11).  “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in His wings” (Malachi 4:1,2).  “The Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread… After the same manner also He took the cup… As often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till He come” (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). 

When God looked down from heaven’s throne

To see the truth of our condition
He made His judgment clearly known: 
We all rebelled by our volition. 

Religion only made it worse: 

We needed heaven’s remedy!
The Law of God confirmed the curse
Established for eternity. 

The eyes of God are everywhere:

He searches every heart within. 
He shows us that there’s no hope there,
For by our nature, we all sin. 

The Lord will come as King of kings

To judge with righteousness each nation. 
Yet now there’s healing in His wings
For all who seek Him for salvation.

For Christ has come in lowly birth

To take upon Himself our wrath. 
God’s Remedy came down to earth;
There is no other saving path! 

Now by His tokens we recall

That God, who loans to us our breath,
Provides a remedy for all,
In Christ, as we portray His death. 

We take the bread, we take the cup,

And see His life for us outpoured. 
We see our judgment He drank up,
And show the death of Christ our Lord. 

O Lord, we praise You for the healing

For all who put their trust in You!
The remedy You are revealing
Confirms Your promises are true. 

O Lord, we thank You for each token,

The bread and wine which we display,
Reflect Your promises unbroken
And show Your Remedy today!
