How Great His Goodness!

“In God we boast all the day long, and praise Thy name forever” (Psalm 44:8).  “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: He is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass…. For how great is His goodness, and how great is His beauty!” (Zechariah 9:9,17).  “I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2).

Behold the beauty of our Lord:

We boast in Jesus Christ alone. 
How worthy is the Lamb adored!
How great His goodness!  Make Him known! 

The day is surely not too long

To fill will boasting of our Savior; 
Forever we will lift our song
To praise Him for His loving favor.

Rejoice in Him and shout my soul:  

Your King has come with His salvation! 
Behold Him riding on a foal
In beautiful humiliation! 

The Lord enthroned is high and holy,

Yet He descended from above
Extending mercy, meek and lowly,
By laying down His life in love! 

No wonder we are called shout

In view of what our Lord has done! 
There’s no one else to boast about
But Christ our Savior, God the Son! 

How great the goodness of our King:

He poured His soul out unto death!
His beauty is astonishing
As worship takes away our breath!

It’s good that we determine this:

Be done forevermore with pride! 
All other boasting we dismiss
Apart from Jesus crucified!

O Lord, we lift our praise to You,

How great Your goodness is to us!
O may Your beauty fill our view
With vision that is glorious! 

We go forth, Lord, as well we should,

As by Your mercy we are sent,
To show that You are surely good
With grace to save all who repent.
