Blessing of the Branch

“Behold, I will bring forth my Servant the BRANCH…saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day… Behold the Man whose name is The BRANCH; and He shall grow up out of His place… and He shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon His throne; and He shall be a Priest upon His throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both” (Zechariah 3:8,9, 6:12,13).  “Whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope… in the fullness of the blessing of the Gospel of Christ” (Romans 15:4,29).

Behold the blessing of the Branch,
The righteous Servant of the Lord,
Brought forth, as promised in advance,
With His salvation’s great reward.

How beautiful is Jesus Christ,
The Servant of the Lord we see
Who for our souls was sacrificed
To thus remove iniquity!

How much our Savior had to pay
To bear away our sin and shame
Which He removed upon that day
Upon His cross!  O praise His name!

Behold this Branch came forth as Man:
He grew up in His humble place,
To carry out His perfect plan
To rescue sinners by His grace!

As God with us, Emmanuel,
This Branch came forth as Priest and King.
Behold Him save our souls from hell
As God accepts His Offering!

We see Him now upon His throne
As praise and thanks to Him ascend.
Salvation comes through Him alone;
The sinner has no greater Friend.

O Lord, these Scriptures comfort us
As we explore Your grace untold!
Your wondrous names are glorious
Which we consider and behold.

Receive our thanks forevermore
For all Your blessings and Your favor
As we, with multitudes, adore
And glorify You as our Savior!
