Go to God

“O send out Thy light and Thy truth: let them lead me… Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy” (Psalm 43:3,4).  “Behold, I will save My people… and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness” (Zechariah 8:7,8).  “We preach Christ crucified… He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:23-31).

By light and truth from God we’re led
To find our joy Him alone,
Rejoicing in what Christ has said
And in His mercy He has shown.

His light now leads us to His cross,
The place where truth was satisfied,
Where sin was purged away as dross
Upon that altar where Christ died.

This is the altar of our God
Where love divine was marvelous
As Christ was smitten with His rod
That otherwise must fall on us!

The Lord had said that He would save
His people in His righteousness,
And thus for us His life He gave;
To save us He could give no less.

There is no other name we preach;
There is no other place to go:
Our Lord was crucified to reach
And ransom sinners here below!

We go to God, our Lord and Savior,
Recalling how He showed His love
In agony, extending favor,
So we could dwell with Him above.

Here in His presence joy is full,
And troubles do not seem so large,
As Christ, the Shepherd of our soul,
Reminds us He is still in charge.

O Lord, we gladly go to You,
The Fountain of our joy forever!
We find no other love so true,
And from Your love no one can sever!

Lord, thank You for Your invitation,
To go to You with confidence
And take the Gospel of salvation
To souls yet needing Your defense.
