Got a Goal?

“Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee: and let such as love Thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.  But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: Thou art my Help and my Deliverer” (Psalm 70:4,5).  “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death… The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going” (Proverbs 14:12,15).

There is a goal that is sublime;
It’s like a beacon in the night.
Its value does not change with time;
It always guides our steps aright.

Let God alone be magnified
Who gave Himself for our salvation!
There is no truer goal and guide
So worthy of our dedication.

Our Savior knows that we are weak
And often hindered by distraction,
So this is why we’re called to seek
His help in every thought and action.

How sadly many walk today
Without the compass of this goal!
Their path grows darker all the way
Until, at last, they lose their soul.

They are like cattle in a herd
That do not know where they are driven.
Deprived of truth, they trust each word
That leaders who are blind have given.

Praise God for light that He is showing
To every soul He has redeemed!
The prudent thus discerns his going,
For things are not as they have seemed.

So let this goal now be our banner,
That Christ may have preeminence
In all our thoughts, our words, and manner,
As we are trusting His defense.

We thank You, Lord, for clarity
As You direct our hearts in praise.
This is our joy eternally
And goal on earth for all our days.
