"Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness.... He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD" (Psalm 112:4,7). "The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe" (Proverbs 29:25). "Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God" (Mark 11:22).
The powers of darkness are set in array,
As people love evil, and good they despise.
The night is approaching that ebbs out the day,
And yet in this darkness God's light will arise.
This light dawns in darkness, arising in those
Who trust in the Lord with a heart that obeys,
Unmoved by the tidings of those who oppose
And show their displeasure when God receives praise.
This light is now dawning in hearts that are fixed
To train up their children the way they should go,
Refusing the teaching this world has mixed
With doctrines of science, yet falsely called so.
O Lord, in this darkness with thinking so flawed,
We thank You for light that will rise just the same
In hearts that You counsel to "have faith in God"
With hope that is fixed in Your trustworthy name!
