"We spend our years as a tale that is told.... So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.... And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: establish Thou the work of our hands upon us" (Psalm 90:9,12,17).
We spend our years as pages turned
And like a tale that is told.
Each day has lessons to be learned,
Applicable to young and old.
"A tale told." What will it say
With every page of life completed?
We write a portion every day,
And not one word can be deleted!
We cannot edit what is past,
But we can act upon this theme:
We'll live to hear "Well done" at last
While yet there's time we may redeem!
Lord, teach us every day to treasure
The moments of our life we hold,
To be, by living for Your pleasure,
A tale of Your beauty told!
