"There is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24). "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.... and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen" (Matthew 28:18-20).
There is a Friend (O, what a Friend!)
Whose love is like no other,
Who loves His own until the end
Much closer than a brother.
We have a Friend through peace and strife;
He gave all that He could:
He gave Himself, His very life,
There is no friend as good.
There is a Friend with matchless love
Who knew that we were lost
And left His majesty above
To pay our ransom's cost.
There is a Friend who sacrificed
Himself to take our place:
His name is our Lord Jesus Christ,
The Author of all grace.
O Lord, there is no friend like You
In wisdom, love, or power,
That sticks so close and is so true
Until our final hour!
Until that hour comes, O Lord,
To be with You forever,
We'll find our daily joy restored
In Friendship none can sever!
