"Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoreth Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.... Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch" (Matthew 15:8,14).
How dreadful it is to be willfully blind!
How great is the danger when this is the case!
How dull is the hearing, how darkened the mind,
Of all who refuse to respond to God's grace!
Deceiving themselves by their foolish volition,
The blind lead the blind till they fall in the pit,
And such is the path that will lead to perdition,
For this is the way of the blind hypocrite.
O Lord, we give thanks for the sight that You gave
That taught us to flee from Your imminent wrath,
And showed us that You (and You only) could save
And lead us aright in Your merciful path!
