Set in Safety

"For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. The words of the Lord are pure words" (Psalm 12:5-6). "And the Scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And He was numbered with the transgressors.... Likewise the chief priests mocking said... He saved others; Himself He cannot save" (Mark 15:28-31).

The enemy may huff and puff,
Oppressing us with all his lies,
But God has said (and that's enough!)
In our defense, He would arise.

Poor and needy as we were
The Lord alone would hear our cries,
Fulfilling thus His words so pure,
Declaring: Now will I arise.

And thus He came as He declared
To bear the shame He would despise.
He gave Himself and was not spared,
Because for us He would arise.

And so the Scriptures were fulfilled,
And as His tomb yet testifies,
The Lamb of God for us was killed,
And on the third day, did arise.

Lord, we lift our voice of praise
And on You, Lord, would fix our eyes,
Thus set in safety all our days
Till in Your presence, we arise.
