Hard Look at Hell's Lake

"Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?" (Proverbs 15:11). "It is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched" (Mark 9:47).

There is a hard reality
That forces us to look
At where we'll spend eternity,
According to God's Book.

Yes, hell is hard to think about;
We'd rather look away.
But God has left no room for doubt;
He sees it everyday!

For God so loved the world He gave
His Son forever cherished,
That He in mercy thus might save
Our souls which would have perished.

And what would prompt the Lord to do
That work of pain and grief?
He saw indeed that hell is true,
Where there is no relief!

How great His love, that would compel
Our Lord to leave His throne
To save our wretched souls from hell
And claim us as His own!

Thank You, Lord, for Your desire,
That prompted Your decision
To save us from the lake of fire;
Now send us with Your vision!
