"Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: He preserveth the souls of His saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked" (Psalm 97:10). "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil" (Proverbs 8:13). "Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God" (2 Corinthians 7:1).
There is a help for holiness
In godly fear and love
That promises to cleanse and bless,
With help from God above.
Love the Lord with all your heart,
And then you will despise
The evil prompting to depart
From truth (exchanged for lies).
The fear of God, then, simply stated,
Is living for His smile
And hating all that He has hated
Because it will defile.
So let us cleanse ourselves from all
Our filth of flesh and spirit,
With fear that heeds our holy call
And love with ears to hear it.
