Floundering Floods

Election Day 2008

"Yet have I set my King upon my holy hill of Zion.... The Lord reigneth, He is clothed with majesty.... Thy throne is established of old: Thou art from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea" (Psalm 2:6, 93:1-4).

Within this season of election
We would do well to note
That God has made His own selection
With His deciding vote.

The floods have lifted up their voice;
God sees the vote their casting,
But God already made His choice,
In fact, from everlasting.

The floods of people vainly roared
Against our Lord and Savior,
But Jesus Christ is still the Lord,
No matter whom they favor.

What a privilege, by election,
We too may choose to own
And worship Christ in His perfection
As King of our heart's throne!
