Face the Fog

"Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim" (Deuteronomy 34:7).  "I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes" (Psalm 119:83).  "If thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding… Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God" (Proverbs 2:3-5).  "Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites… This people honoreth Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me" (Mark 7:6).

The time has surely come to face
The fog that makes our vision dim
As we, like Moses, still embrace
The truth of God that honors Him.

We are like bottles in the smoke
Of lies that make the truth unclear,
But God removes deception's cloak
With understanding through His fear.

How well Isaiah prophesied
Of lips full of hypocrisy!
Our Savior clearly testified
Of such: "Their heart is far from Me."

O Lord, though smoke may cloud our view,
The truth is clear that we proclaim.
We face the fog by trusting You,
Since You are evermore the same.
