Excellent Expectations

"There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass" (Joshua 21:45).  "Surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off" (Proverbs 23:18).  "Seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" (Luke 12:31,32). 

God's blessings on us have prevailed;

His promises are never broken.

There's not a single thing that failed

Of everything the Lord has spoken. 

We know that there will be an end

To every fleeting thing we see,

Yet we are sure we have a Friend

In Christ for all eternity. 

We rightly have an expectation

That God abundantly will bless

Each one who seeks His exaltation,

His kingdom, and His righteousness. 

O risen Lord, how excellent

Our expectations are from You! 

In You alone we rest content,

Assured Your promises are true.
