Captain's Command

"As Captain of the host of the LORD am I now come.  And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto Him, What saith my Lord unto His servant?" (Joshua 5:14).  "They have made void Thy law.  Therefore I love Thy commandments... and I hate every false way" (Psalm 119:126-128).  "Keep My commandments, and live" (Proverbs 7:2).  "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength" (Mark 12:30).

As Captain of God's mighty host,
Our Savior stood for Israel.
He was their only Hope and Boast,
And He is surely ours as well!

How rightly Joshua thus adored
The Captain of salvation then
And waited there to hear the Lord,
Instead of strategies from men.

Our Captain's way is always right;
By His commandments we shall live
To love the Lord with all our might,
Upheld by grace that He will give.

O Captain, by Your grace we stand,
Without which we would still be cursed!
Our hearts rejoice in Your command
To love You, since You loved us first!
