Run to the Refuge

"Appoint out for you cities of refuge… that the slayer… may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood" (Joshua 20:2,3).  "Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD... it shall be well with thee" (Psalm 128:1,2).  "A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.  By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life" (Proverbs 22:3,4).  "He that is not with Me is against Me" (Luke 11:9).

There is a Refuge now appointed
Where guilty sinners yet may run:
In Christ our Savior, God's Anointed,
The work that saves our souls is done!

How blest are those who fear the Lord,
For all who do, it shall be well.
He is our Refuge and Reward
That saves us from eternal hell.

A prudent man foresees the wrath
And runs to Christ, our Hiding Place.
Salvation has no other path
Apart from His amazing grace.

O Lord, the humble run to You
And find the Refuge You provide,
But grace is hidden from the view
Of those resisting You with pride.
