Slipping in Slackness

"And Joshua said… How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?" (Joshua 18:3).  "He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him" (Psalm 126:6).  "A faithful man who can find?" (Proverbs 20:6).  "Jesus said unto him… Go thou and preach the kingdom of God… No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God" (Luke 9:60,62).

The Lord gave Israel His command
(It wasn't merely a suggestion)
To go and to subdue the land
That He had given for possession.

The Lord has likewise said to us
To go into the world and preach
His Gospel that is glorious
To every nation we may reach.

The eyes of God run to and fro
That He may find a faithful man
Who is not slack to rise and go
To manifest His saving plan.

How greatly, Lord, You are equipping
Your people with Your Word proclaimed!
Revive us, lest You find us slipping
In slackness, making us ashamed.
