"Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? The goodness of God endureth continually… I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever" (Psalm 52:1,9). "A lying tongue is but for a moment… but to the counselors of peace is joy" (Proverbs 12:19,20). "Speak My words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear" (Ezekiel 2:1,7). "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised… Cast not away therefore your confidence" (Hebrews 10:23,35).
How foolishly the liar boasts
With arguments he thinks are clever.
We trust the living Lord of hosts
Whose goodness shall endure forever.
Be sure that lying tongues shall cease,
Though, for the moment, they prevail.
We preach the Gospel of God's peace
With promises that cannot fail.
We speak the truth that some refuse;
Yet there are some who humbly hear.
We plead with souls who yet may choose
To seek the Lord while He is near.
Continuing with confidence,
We trust You, Lord, our faithful Savior.
Your proven Word is our defense,
The Rock on which we shall not waver.
