Sure, Shining, and Sharp

“Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the Word of the LORD, which the LORD spake” (2 Kings 10:10).  ”But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.  The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble” (Proverbs 4:18,19).  “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

The Word of God is very sure;
His promises cannot be broken.
His truth forever shall endure;
No word shall fall that He has spoken.

His Word upon our path is shining
To guide us in His perfect way.
As earth and heaven are declining,
His Word shines brighter day by day.

God’s Word is living, powerful,
And sharper than a two-edge sword,
Dividing spirit from the soul,
Exposing all before the Lord.

The path without His Word is cruel
Where in the darkness sinners stumble.
It’s chosen by the only by the fool
Who turns from God and won’t be humble.

Your words, Lord, shall not pass away,
Though earth and heaven surely will.
The promises that You convey
We know, at last, You will fulfill.

Lord, thank You for Your precious Word,
So sure and shining, sharp and true,
By which You draw those who are stirred
With humble hearts to trust in You.
