Victory versus Vanity

“Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in Thy way” (Psalm 119:37).  “The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death” (Proverbs 13:14).  “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus… We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us” (Romans 8:1,37).

It always is a great mistake
To set our eyes on vanity
And waste the time that it must take
To turn from our insanity.

We need revival every day
Which God our Savior will impart
As we draw near to Him and pray
That He may thus revive our heart.

We need the wisdom God will give
Which, like a fountain, freely flows.
The Lord will teach us how to live
In victory that He bestows.

The snares of death are everywhere,
But we escape them all by grace
As God exposes every snare
And rescues us in every place.

Now we are more than conquerors
Through Him who sets on us His love.
He makes us His ambassadors
To represent our King above.

O Lord, we lift to You our voice
To thank You for so great salvation
As we triumphantly rejoice
That You removed our condemnation!

We thank You, Lord, for all we gain
Because You gave Your life for us.
We do not live our life in vain:
In You we are victorious!
