Now Assured and Not Ashamed

“I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in Thy word… I will speak of Thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed” (Psalm 119:42,46).  “The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going… In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and His children shall have a place of refuge” (Proverbs 14:15,26).  “As it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a Stumblingstone and Rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed” (Romans 9:33).

We are equipped to answer him
Who seeks to undermine God’s Word.
Prophetic light is never dim,
Fulfilled so we may rest assured.

It matters not if they are kings
Who in their arrogance may mock.
They cannot change the former things
In prophecies of which we talk.

The simple trust what they are told,
Yet this is not our confidence:
The reason that we may be bold
Is seen in ample evidence.

Behold the refuge of God’s grace
Where godly fear will surely lead:
The Savior is our Hiding Place,
Who gave Himself to meet our need!

As it is written and fulfilled
Our Savior is a Stumbling Stone,
Yet mocking tongues shall soon be stilled
When Christ shall make His glory known.

The name of JESUS CHRIST exalted
Shall be above all others named.
The rebel’s scorn shall then be halted,
And we shall praise Him unashamed.

We thank You, Lord, that we may bow
With unashamed and endless love,
Assured, not only then, but now,
That You receive our praise above.
