Standing in Stillness

“Early… Stand thou still a while, that I may show thee the Word of God” (1 Samuel 9:26,27).  “Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed Thy commandments” (Psalm 119:66).

When with the Lord we’re standing still,
He shows to us His precious Word.
He teaches us to do His will
As we obey what we have heard.

How much we need to thus discern
The things that God in stillness shows.
We need this quiet time to learn
The wisdom that our Lord bestows.

We live in days of great confusion;
We’re called to now be circumspect
And wisely draw each right conclusion,
As God, in stillness, will direct.

Before we launch into the day
We need to hear His still small voice
In which the Lord will thus convey
His Word in which our hearts rejoice.

O Lord, we thank You for Your love
Which draws us now to seek Your face,
To fix our hearts on things above,
And be astonished at Your grace.

Lord, may we early thus be found
In stillness as with You we stand
That You may silence every sound
Except the voice of Your command.
