Goodly Fame of Godly Fear

“Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in His ways” (Psalm 128:1).  “In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge” (Proverbs 14:26).  “There shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain” (Isaiah 4:6).  “God is able to make all grace abound toward you…  Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable Gift” (2 Corinthians 9:8,15).

There is a goodly fame indeed
Of blessings that are richly poured,
As God provides for every need
For every one who fears the Lord.

Let all who fear Him offer praise
And thank Him for this confidence:
As we are walking His ways
He is our Refuge and Defense!

A Shadow from the daytime heat,
A Place of refuge where we hide,
A Covert where the storm may beat
A Godly fear will thus provide.

Our God will make His grace abound
To everyone who fears His name.
In Christ these blessings we have found,
And we rejoice to spread His fame!

We thank You, Lord, for drawing near
Before we even sought for You.
You gently taught us how to fear,
Then find in Christ our Refuge true.

To those who fear You, Lord, how full
These blessings are in Your salvation!
Now for Your Gift Unspeakable,
Receive our love and adoration.
