Turning, Trusting, Testing

"They that trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but adideth forever" (Psalm 125:1). "By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil" (Proverbs 16:6). "Turn ye unto Me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you" (Zechariah 1:3). "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves" (2 Corinthians 13:5).

The Lord has called us each to turn
And trust Him for His saving grace.
The moment that we do, we learn:
A miracle has taken place!

Emotions surely come and go,
But after these evaporate,
A change in character should show
That transforms what we love and hate.

Our faith and fear in God are twins
That dwell united in our hearts:
Yes, grace by faith has purged our sins,
Yet godly fear from sin departs.

O Lord, in this examination
In which You call us to partake,
We find the proofs of our salvation
Are like a mountain none can shake.

Yet in these proofs we find, O Lord,
A longing to be more like You.
This is the mark we'll press toward;
This is the calling we'll pursue!
