Tomorrow's Time

"Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth" (Proverbs 27:1). "Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:14-16).

We boast not ourselves of tomorrow,
For we cannot know what it brings,
Nor are we permitted to borrow,
While it is today, of its things.

Today holds the time we call now,
And now is the time to awaken!
The grace that our Lord will endow
Is forfeited if it's not taken.

O Lord, while it's yet called today,
And days are infected with crime,
We'd walk, not as fools who delay,
But wisely, redeeming the time.

Lord, teach us to number our days
And treasure each moment we live,
That we may reveal Your praise
And shine with the light that You give.
