Faith on Facts

"When they came to Jesus, and saw that He was dead already, they brake not His legs: but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For these things were done, that the Scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of Him shall not be broken. And again another Scripture saith, They shall look on Him whom they pierced" (John 19:33-36).

Christ was always in command,
Even after He was killed.
Every prophecy would stand;
Every Scripture was fulfilled.

John was present to record
The precious details of those acts
Upon the cross of Christ our Lord
That we might rest our faith on facts.

The legs of Jesus were not broken
When the soldiers found Him dead;
They did exactly as was spoken,
As the psalmist clearly said.

Yet a soldier pierced His side,
As Zechariah had foretold.
And thus the Scriptures testified
What God allowed, and would withhold.

Lord, we thank You that You've shown
By Scriptures that You would fulfill,
That You were ruling on Your throne,
As now You are and always will.
