Chastening and Cherishing

Read:  Psalm 94 / Proverbs 10 / Jonah 1 / 2John 1

 

Psalm 94:12 ~ Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law.

Proverbs 10:5 ~ He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Jonah 1:6 ~ So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.

2 John 8 ~ Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

 

Thank God for all His chastening,

Correcting us with staff and rod

So that He may be hastening

Our hearts to glorify our God.

 

Are we, like Jonah, fast asleep

While precious souls are perishing?

Let us be mindful of the sheep

That Christ our Lord is cherishing!
