Workers vs. Wasters

"The carpenters and builders that wrought upon the house of the LORD… dealt faithfully" (2 Kings 12:15,16).  "Show forth His salvation from day to day" (Psalm 96:2).  "He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster" (Proverbs 18:9).  "Wherefore He saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.  See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:14-16).

The workmen who were tasked to build
The house of God in disrepair
Dealt faithfully and so fulfilled
Their work with diligence and care.

There is an urgent work to do:
To preach the Gospel while we may.
The time is late, the workers few;
We dare not waste a single day.

The Lord has told us to awake
And He will give to us His light.
To waste the day is a mistake,
For work is halted in the night.

O Lord, You've given us Your Word
That we may show Your great salvation.
We would not waste what we have heard,
But do Your work with dedication.
