His Oath and His Own

"Jehoiada (יְהוֹיָדָע, Jehovah-known) made a covenant… that they should be the LORD'S people" (2 Kings 11:17).  "Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your heart, as... a people that do err in their heart… unto whom I sware in My wrath that they should not enter into My rest” (Psalm 95:7-11).  "The LORD trieth the hearts" (Proverbs 17:3).  "If so be that ye have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus… ye are sealed unto the day of redemption" (Ephesians 4:21,30).

Jehovah-Jesus knows His own.
His oath has surely been revealed.
To His redeemed, He has made known
That they are by His Spirit sealed.

The oath of God denies His pardon
To those who have refused His favor,
For hearts still have the choice to harden
And turn away from Christ our Savior.

All those who choose to hear His voice
And trust Him are forever blest,
But those who turn away by choice
Shall know that they refused His rest.

O Lord, we've heard Your declaration.
Your oath defines the great division:
Your own, by choice, receive salvation;
The lost do not, by their decision.
