Self Examination vs. Self-Exaltation

"Wilt thou not revive us again?… I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people, and to His saints: but let them not turn again to folly.  Surely His salvation is nigh them that fear Him… Righteousness shall look down from heaven… and shall set us in the way of His steps" (Psalm 85:4-13).  "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.  Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Revival does not come by pride,
But rather by a humble heart.
It's time for us to look inside,
Examining our inward part.

We need to hear what God will say
As we're examined by His Word
And ask ourselves if we obey
With servant hearts what we have heard.

Our righteous God examines us,
And by His standard, so should we.
We cannot be victorious
With sin that we refuse to see.

O Lord, our self-examination
Is verified by hearing You.
Remove self-centered exaltation,
And grant revival that is true.
