Target the Truth

"Know ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves… His truth endureth to all generations" (Psalm 100:3,5).  "Train up a child… that thy trust may be in the Lord… Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them?" (Proverbs 22:6,19-21).  "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14).

We know we have not made ourselves,
Though this is not taught in our schools
In books that are lining the shelves
With teaching promoted by fools.

In times when the facts are obscured
In textbooks that poison our youth,
The Word of our God has endured,
Affirming self-evident truth.

It's time now to make the truth plain
With counsels we have in God's Word,
Convincing the children we train
To turn from the lies they have heard.

We target the truth as our prize,
O Lord, in Your calling of grace
As daily we're fixing our eyes
On You as we're running this race.
