Venture in the Valley

"Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but He is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD" (1 Kings 20:28).  "Blessed is the man whose strength is in Thee… who passing through the valley of Baca (בָּכָא = weeping; tears) make it a well… the LORD will give grace" (Psalm 84:5,6,11).  "My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Our God is God of all the hills,
Where joyful worship has its place,
Yet also valleys where He stills
The weeping heart with saving grace.

How blest are those whose strength is found
In fellowship with God each day,
Equipped with grace that will abound
With Gospel truth that they convey.

This world's valley is so dry,
But grace is flowing like a well!
The Lord will hear the humble cry
Of sinners whom He saves from hell.

We venture in the valley, Lord,
To bring Your gracious invitation
With grace sufficiently outpoured
To preach the Gospel of salvation.
