"An host [of Syrians] compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his [Elisha's] servant said unto him, Alas, my master! How shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them…. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha" (2 Kings 6:15-17). "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom" (Psalm 90:12).
There is a need
to number those 
Who are with us
from heaven's ranks  
(Who far
outnumber all our foes) 
With opened eyes
to give God thanks.  
Elisha's servant
was a youth 
Who said
"Alas… how shall we do?"  
His eyes were
opened to the truth 
To see God's
host from heaven's view.  
There is a need
to number days 
That we may live
a life that's wise 
And give to God
a heart of praise, 
Redeeming time
with opened eyes.  
O Lord, we see
the need to number 
The things that
really matter most, 
Lest days be
wasted by our slumber 
Or we lose sight
of heaven's host.
