"David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley... And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people" (2 Samuel 8:13,15). "The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: He uttered his voice, the earth melted… Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth" (Psalm 46:6-10). "Sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace" (Romans 6:14).
In
David's kingdom we can see
The
shadow of much greater things
When
Christ shall reign in majesty
As
Lord of lords and King of kings.
The
Lord exalted David's throne
To
manifest His own dominion
And
make a name that would be known,
Refuting
every false opinion.
"Be
still" our God has said to us,
For
He shall surely be exalted.
The
Lord shall reign victorious
When
all His enemies are halted.
O
Lord, now come and reign within,
Extending
Your Davidic reign
By
Your dominion over sin
As
grace enlarges Your domain!
