Rise or Ruin

“Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord… Mine eyes have seen Thy salvation, which Thou hast prepared before the face of all people; a Light to lighten the Gentiles, and the Glory of Thy people Israel… And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary His mother, Behold, this Child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against… that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” (Luke 2:11,30-35).

Now unto us is born a Savior
Exactly as was prophesied.
The Lord extends to us His favor,
As men and angels testified.

The Child came to Bethlehem,
As Micah prophesied He would.
Apart from Him, God must condemn
The souls of all; not one is good.

This wasn’t done in secrecy,
For prophets had announced His birth,
Foretelling when and where He’d be
Arriving as He came to earth.

Our Lord was born to save the lost;
For this was God’s salvation plan.
He died to pay our ransom’s cost;
There was no other hope for man.

But though our Savior died for all,
His truth may be exchanged for lies.
All those refusing Him will fall,
And those receiving Him will rise.

The thoughts of hearts are thus revealed,
For Christ exposes every thought:
All those who trust in Him are healed,
And those rejecting Him are not.

Lord, thank You for such wondrous grace
Which shows to all Your saving path!
We rise with joy to seek Your face,
Thus saved from ruin and from wrath!
