Healing Hypocrisy

“Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your heart” (Psalm 95:7,8).  “Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD” (Lamentations 3:40).  Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoreth Me with their lips; but their heart is far from Me” (Matthew 15:7,8).

The Lord has called us to repent
And turn our hearts to Him today.
Hypocrisy may hide intent,
But God can see us anyway.

Today if we will hear His voice,
If we will search and try our ways,
And turn to God, we shall rejoice
With hearts He’ll cleanse to offer praise.

The other option left is grim:
The hypocrite may wear his mask.
The fool attempts to hide from Him,
Yet God will heal those who ask.

The Lord still tells it like it is
When mouths draw near, but hearts are far,
And thus we know if we are His,
For God will show us if we are.

Since God so hates hypocrisy,
Then surely we should hate it too
And love the truth that makes us free
To live a life we know is true.

O Lord, we thank You that You show
To every soul their true condition,
And thus the hypocrite may know
The way to yet escape perdition.

Lord, thank You for the light You’ve shined
To show the grace You are revealing,
So even hypocrites may find
The Gospel that extends Your healing.
