God in Galilee

“Come and see the works of God… Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what He hath done for my soul” (Psalm 66:5,16).  “In GALILEE of the nations, the people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined… For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given… and His name shall be called…The mighty God” (Isaiah 9:1-6).  “Nicodemus saith unto them… Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?  They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet” (John 7:50-52).

O come and see!  O come and hear
What God has done in Galilee!
The Lord Himself to us came near
To save our souls and set us free!

The prophecy Isaiah gave
Of Galilee was never dim:
Our God in Galilee would save
The souls who put their trust in Him.

For unto us a Child is born,
And unto us God’s Son is given!
His light has come to those who mourn,
And darkness from their hearts is driven!

As Nicodemus saw in Christ
The Light Isaiah thus foretold.
We see our Savior sacrificed
In Scripture’s light which we behold.

The Pharisees said “Search and look!”
That’s good advice for us to take,
Though in their blindness they forsook
Their own advice (their great mistake)!

Our God in Galilee thus came
To bring to us so great salvation.
“The Mighty God!” Declare His name!
In Christ we see His incarnation!

O Lord, we thank You that we find
In Galilee Your wondrous light,
For we who once were lost and blind
By grace are found and given sight!
