Flawless Fulfillment

“He hath poured out His soul unto death: and He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors” (Isaiah 53:12).  “This that is written must yet be accomplished in Me, And He was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning Me have an end… And they said, What need we any further witness?  For we ourselves have heard of His own mouth” (Luke 22:37,71). 

The things which the prophets so clearly foretold

Concerning what Jesus our Savior would do

Were surely accomplished!  Shall not we be bold

To show their fulfillment is flawlessly true?

There’s no further witness that faith should require

Than flawless fulfillment of Scripture unbroken.  

The prophecies only our Lord could inspire

Were also confirmed by the words Christ had spoken.

Our Savior was reckoned with transgressors then

Though there was no fault in our Lord Jesus found.

Our Lord was despised and rejected of men

With thorns that were woven and on His head crowned.

As David in Psalm twenty-two could foresee,

They pierced both His hands and His feet with their nails.

Now what further witness could possibly be

So clearly from God with prophetic details?

The prophecies written concerning our Lord,

Have stripped all excuses from sinners self-willed

Since it is by choice that they thus have ignored

The Scriptures that Jesus our Lord has fulfilled.

O Lord, what the prophets have said have an end

Fulfilled in Your coming to purchase salvation.

How great are the reasons with which we defend

The Word that we preach on this solid foundation!
