Senseless Silence

“Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: Thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;  to the end that my glory may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent.  O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto Thee forever” (Psalm 30:11,12).  “We… lay hold upon the hope set before us: which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil, whither the Forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus” (Hebrews 6:18-20).

Does not our silence seem absurd
In view of what our Savior did?
Should not our hearts with joy be stirred
With gladness which cannot be hid?

How can our silence be explained
In view of God’s victorious plan?
The cup of wrath by Christ was drained;
He tasted death for every man!

Salvation’s cup, which we now hold
Is filled with blessings to the brim!
Our Savior’s riches are untold
Bestowed on those who trust in Him!

We’re clothed in garments of salvation;
Christ took away our rags of sin!
We’ll join with heaven’s celebration,
Yet here on earth we should begin!

We have an anchor of the soul
Both sure and steadfast from our King.
We have a joy that He makes full.
We have a reason now to sing!

Behold the veil that portrayed
The place where sin could be atoned.
We see our Savior, thus displayed,
Has entered in and is enthroned!

Our hope is anchored in the Lord;
How senseless now has silence seemed!
Our gladness grows as we’ve explored
His grace bestowed on those redeemed!

O Lord, as we thus celebrate,
Our silence surely has no place!
It seems so senseless now to wait
To clearly speak of saving grace!

Lord, let the silence in this season
Be now assigned to senseless stone.
We are redeemed!  We have a reason
To make Your great salvation known!
