Believer's Boast

“In God we boast all the day long, and praise Thy name forever” (Psalm 44:8).  “Unto you therefore which believe He is precious… Ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:7-9). 

We know that every boast is wrong

Except it be in God alone.
In God we glory all day long,
And praise His name to make Him known.

We boast that Christ alone can save

Eternal souls from endless loss. 
We boast that He has robbed our grave
Of all its sorrow by His cross.

We boast that Christ has won the fight

That none of us could ever win:
He vanquished darkness with His light
And by His cross removed our sin.

We boast in Christ whom we adore:

How precious is our Lord to us!
We’ll boast in Him forevermore  
And make His praises glorious!

Let others boast of fleeting things

This world loudly will applaud. 
We boast in Christ, the King of kings,
The Lord of lords, the Lamb of God! 

O Lord, we scarcely have explored

The greatness of Your reputation!
How rightly is Your name adored
By all who boast in Your salvation!
