Dismissal then Distress

Read:  Psalm 58 / Proverbs 13 / 2 Chronicles 28 / Hebrews 10

Psalm 58:3-5 The wicked... are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear; which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.
Proverbs 13:8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
2 Chronicles 28:22 And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.
Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

The wicked simply stop their ear,
Dismissing the rebuke of God,
Since they would so much rather hear
The praise of those who will applaud.

What shall they do in their distress
Who have no heart for true contrition?
They perish in unrighteousness
Who draw back to their own perdition!
