Time and Task

“Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).  “Jesus… said, It is finished: and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost” (John 19:30). 

There is a task for us to finish

In such a time that God makes clear.

May God forbid that we diminish

The reason He has placed us here!

For such a time on earth as this

The Lord is calling us to action. 

It is a tragedy to miss

His calling for a vain distraction.

There is a task for us to do

That God Himself has now assigned.

With what He did for us in view,

May we obey with ready mind!

O Lord, You suffered on that cross

And there was nothing left undone!

You saved us from eternal loss

And fought until our souls were won!

We love You, Lord, and thus would live

To do whatever You may ask.

For such a time that You now give

May we be faithful in each task.
